Takealot Black Friday 2026: real deals vs fake specials

28 days to go. Watchalot records what thousands of Takealot products actually sell for every day, so you can tell a real Black Friday drop from a discount measured against a price nobody paid.

How to spot a fake Black Friday special

  1. Look at the price history, not the “was” price. Takealot measures its discounts from a list price the supplier sets and can raise at any time. What counts is what the product actually sold for in the weeks before.
  2. Watch for prices that went up in November. A price raised a few weeks before Black Friday and then “cut” back to where it was saves you nothing. Watchalot compares today’s price with what it usually sold for, so that trick shows up as a normal price or a fake special.
  3. Set an alert now, buy when it’s real. Open the product you want and press “Email me when it’s a real deal”. We email you once, when it drops below what it usually sells for. Free, no account.
